“Shrek the Musical” is coming to Vista del Lagol for the first time, which had started April 3rd.

The stage adaption follows a similar plot of the movie, but with singing and dancing added for twist. “It’s fun with all the characters, the music, the singing and the dancing,” said Mark Cornfield, director and Vista drama teacher.

The principle characters in “Shrek the Musical” are Jordan Ashby as Shrek, Sarah Morris as Princess Fiona, Lauren “L” Little as Donkey, Jesse Cassani as Farquaad, and Anne Ellis as Pinocchio.

Numerous parents pitched in to get this play going, making the props and costumes.

Cornfield took the time after school to work with the students who seemed interested in producing “Shrek,” and it took them four months to prepare for it.

Performances are April 3rd, 4th, 5th, 11th and 12th. The approximate running time of the play is about 2 hours 15 minutes including intermission. Grades 9-12 are performing in Shrek the Musical. You can get your tickets at the Black Box on the day of performance. For students eight dollars, and parents ten dollars.
