Is Subscribing to OnlyFans Cheating? Aussies Are Divided—Here’s What They Think

A new survey reveals a major relationship dilemma—does paying for OnlyFans count as cheating? With men and women split on the issue, the debate is heating up across Australia!

It turns out that not everyone is on the same page when it comes to what counts as “cheating” in relationships—especially when OnlyFans is involved. A recent survey has revealed that many Australians see subscribing to adult content creators as a betrayal, while others think it depends on the situation.

The research found that 56 percent of women believe if their partner subscribes to a porn star’s channel, it is definitely cheating. On the other hand, only 38 percent of men agree, with nearly half (48 percent) saying it depends on what kind of interaction is happening. Meanwhile, just 9 percent of women and 15 percent of men think it’s normal for people in relationships to watch and engage with OnlyFans creators.

The survey, which gathered responses from 1,870 people, was conducted ahead of a new debate series exploring what Australians think about various social issues. And the findings paint a complex picture of how modern relationships are affected by the rise of platforms like OnlyFans.

When people on the streets were asked for their opinions, their responses mirrored the survey results. Many women saw it as cheating, but some said it depended on the content being watched and how much money was being spent.

“If you’re paying for something, interacting, and have a specific person in mind, that’s definitely cheating,” one woman shared while chatting with her friend, both dressed in activewear.

Meanwhile, two men who were asked if subscribing to OnlyFans was cheating didn’t think it was the same as having an affair. However, one admitted it would still lead to a huge argument in a long-term relationship.

“If I was with someone for, say, five years, I’d be like, ‘What’s going on here?’” he said. “That would be a big fight. Whereas with someone new? Bye.”

Another man, wearing a fedora, had an even stronger reaction, saying he wouldn’t even date a woman who subscribed to adult content.

“I think OnlyFans is messed up. I’d break up with them on the spot,” he said.

An Irish expat also chimed in, calling it a waste of money. “If you have a partner, why do you need OnlyFans?” he questioned, pointing out the rising cost of living.

Subscribing to an OnlyFans account typically costs between $5 and $10 per month, but creators make most of their money through private messages with fans, which can go from $3 up to $200 per message.

Interestingly, the survey found that couples who live together are less likely to feel threatened by OnlyFans than those who don’t. Among couples who live separately, 55 percent said they see it as cheating, compared to 41 percent of married or de facto couples who say it depends on the interactions.

While studies suggest that couples who watch pornography together tend to have better relationships and sexual satisfaction, experts warn that hidden porn consumption can have negative effects, especially since men are generally more likely to watch adult content in secret.

With different perspectives on what counts as cheating, it’s clear that conversations about boundaries and expectations in relationships are more important than ever.
