“Stranger Things” gets a second season

Back by popular demand, Netflix announced that their breakout series, “Stranger Things”, will be airing its second season in 2017. Shawn Levy is the executive producer of this science fiction Netflix original series that is set in the 1980s and includes stars like Winona Ryder and David Harbour.

The series starts when the main character, Joyce’s son Will, goes missing, so she launches a terrifying investigation into his disappearance with local authorities. As they search for answers, they unravel a series of extraordinary mysteries involving secret government experiments, alarming supernatural forces, and a very unusual little girl.

Emma Kroencke, a senior at Vista del Lago, says that she loves the “80s vibes and that it was inspired by Stephen King.” The plot and scariness are really what got Kroencke hooked on the show. “I will definitely be watching the second season when released on Netflix,” Kroencke says.

The first season of “Stranger Things” is the third most-watched self-production Netflix show after the first series of Fuller House and the fourth season of Orange Is The New Black. A few things that really got the viewers hooked are the scenes that make them feel like a kid again, the combination of being both sweet and scary at the same time, and the connection to a disconnected culture.

Kiana Ikeda, also a senior at Vista, says that she likes the show. “It’s really interesting and it’s not too scary.”

On the other hand, Vista Del Lago senior, Celia King, said that she had never seen the show before. “I want to watch it, but I’m just not that into dramas,” she says.

Because the season ended with many unanswered questions, fans will highly anticipate the season two release. “It’s about giving enough so the audience feels satisfied,” said Ross Duffer, the brother of one of the creators of the show.

Viewers are still left wondering:

What happened to Eleven?

Will we get #JusticeForBarb?

What did Will cough up?

Will Steve’s friends get their comeuppance?

What about Joyce and Jim?

So, if you are you looking for a new series to binge watch, make sure to get caught up on “Stranger Things”.
