The boy who once dazzled the crowd and opponents alike is now the man amazing the nation. But he doesn’t come from a far away city in the south — he’s a Folsom native.

Jake Browning, quarterback for the Washington Huskies, stands at 6 feet 2 inches and lead the Huskies to an eleven-win season, suffering only one loss to USC. He is also in the running for the Heisman trophy, the highest award that can be given to a college player, throwing 3,162 yards so far this season.

His knowledge of football is a testament of his training before college football.

Before entering the college circuit, Browning was a standout quarterback at Folsom High. He threw 91 touchdowns in 2014, with 524 passing attempts and only 7 interceptions. In 2014, Browning also led his team to the state championship.

Now he has a chance to lead the Washington Huskies to a college national championship. Currently, the Huskies are ranked fourth and will square off against the number one team, Alabama.

Browning’s success is inspiring a new generation of Folsom athlete’s to work hard and chase their dreams.

Dominic Norris is Vista del Lago’s running back and has just finished his junior season rushing 1,349 yards. With such high numbers, Norris is looking to have a strong senior season.

“I think it’s cool that a kid from Folsom is now a big time college player,” said Norris regarding Browning’s success. “He has brought some attention to the Folsom community, giving all athletes a better chance at going farther. I hope to follow the path he’s blazed.”

One of Browning’s keys to success is keeping his feet on the ground. Browning has been reported to remain humble, despite all the hype surrounding him.

Browning is making the Folsom community proud as he dazzles the national audience, giving the city’s athletes hope for their future.
