Juveniles Taken into Custody After Carbondale Armed Robbery
A third juvenile arrested in Carbondale armed robbery; no injuries reported. Investigation ongoing, authorities seek information.

In Carbondale, Illinois, a third juvenile has been taken into custody in connection with an armed robbery investigation. On Monday, January 27, the 15-year-old suspect from Cape Girardeau was brought to the Carbondale Police Department by his parents. The juvenile faces multiple charges, including aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and aggravated battery. He was arrested and subsequently taken to a juvenile detention center.
The incident that led to the arrest occurred on January 25 at around 5 p.m. in the 400 block of South Graham Street, where Carbondale police responded to a report of a shot being fired. During the investigation, a juvenile male approached the police department to report he had been robbed. The victim stated that an acquaintance displayed a gun and demanded his property in the 400 block of South Graham Street. As the victim fled the area in a vehicle, the suspect fired a shot at him.
The victim, along with two other acquaintances, drove to the 300 block of College Street, where another individual in the group also displayed a gun and demanded property. The suspects took the victim’s belongings and fled the scene. The victim then drove to the police department to report the robbery.
In connection with the robbery, the parents of two other suspects brought their children, a 15-year-old from Carbondale and a 16-year-old from Carterville, to the police department. Both juveniles were arrested for armed robbery, aggravated discharge of a firearm, and unlawful use of a weapon. Following consultations with the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office, they were also taken to a juvenile detention center and are awaiting court appearances.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Carbondale Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
